Finished Measurements: See sizing chart for chest/length by age; sizes 2 through 14 years. Chest sizes: 22″, 23.5″,  25.5″, 27″, 28.5″,  31″,  33″. Garment width: 26″, 27.5″, 30″, 31.5″, 33.5″, 36″, 39.5″. Garment length: 13.5″, 14.5″, 16″,  17″, 19″,  21.5″,  23.5″.

Pattern Style: Written in standard US knitting terms with a chart for colorwork.
Stitches: Stockinette stitch, k1 p1 ribbing, stranded (Fair Isle) knitting for the house/sun/cloud/tree motifs; embroidery stitches.

Recommended Materials & Tools

Yarn: DK weight yarn in 7 colors — approximate yardage varies by size: AKOBSDALS Atena; Color 1: 4 to 8 balls; Colors 2–7: 1 ball each (one ball of each contrast color for all sizes). Leftover navy blue yarn for embroidering outlines.
Since the original 1980s yarn may be discontinued, substitute with any standard modern DK weight yarn such as Patons DK.
Knitting Needles Size: US #3 and #6 needles.
Notions: Tapestry needle for weaving in ends. 4-5 buttons (one for the neckband and 3–4 for the front placket, depending on size); red beads for apple embroidery.
Gauge: 22 sts and 30 rows to 4″ on US #6 needles.
