Easter Bunny Applique
Free Crochet Tutorial
Worsted- or light-weight leftover yarn, approximately several yards
Crochet hook of respective size: i.e. 5-6 mm hook for worsted-weight yarn or 4-5 mm hook for light-weight yarn
Approximately 3″/7.5 cm wide and 4″/10 cm high in worsted-weight yarn
Note: This applique starts with rounds and continues with rows.
Body and Head
Work magic circle.
Round 1: ch 1, 10 sc into circle, join with 1st sc.
Round 2: ch 1, 2 sc in each sc around, join with first sc.
Round 3: ch 1, (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) twice, 4 dc all in next sc, skip 1 sc, (sl in next sc) twice, sc in next sc, (hdc in next sc, 2 hdc in next sc) twice, (dc in next sc) 3 times, 2 dc in next sc, tr in next sc, 2 tr in next sc, (tr in next sc) 3 times, ch 1, turn.
Continue with rows:
Row 1: sc in 2nd tr from hook, (sc in next tr) 3 times, 2 sc in next tr, hdc in next st, 2 hdc in next st, hdc in next st, sc in next st, ch 1, turn.
Row 2: sc in 2nd st from hook, (sc in next st) 4 times, ch1, turn.
Row 3: sc in 2nd sc from hook, hdc in next sc, (dc in next sc) twice, hdc in next st, ch 1.
Continue row 3 down side edge of head: sc in each of 2 loops or spaces at side, turn with yarn at back, *ch 6, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, (hdc in next ch) twice, sc in next ch, join with next st up edge of head**, rep from * to ** for other ear.
Continue working at top edge of head from ears towards nose:
sc in next sc, (hdc in next sc) twice, sl in next sc.
Fasten off. Secure circle and weave in ends.
sc: single crochet
hdc: half double crochet
dc: double crochet
Note: Join with slip st where instructed to join.
