Toy Purse – Free Crochet Pattern
Crochet an easy small purse with a flap!

Free Crochet Tutorial
Worsted-weight leftover yarn in 2 colors, approximately several yards
Crochet hooks: 5 mm hook and 4 mm hook
7 sc sts = 2″/5 cm
Purse, circumference: approximately 9″/23 cm
Purse, height: approximately 4″/10 cm (including edging)
Flap, width: 4.5″/11.5(including edging)
Flap, height: 2″/5 cm
Ch 15 sts in CA yarn using larger size hook.
Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each next ch, ch1 at end of row and turn.
Row 2: sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each sc to end of row. Continue in the round:
Round 1: *sc in each of 2 spaces or loops at side, sc in each next sc, rep from * once. Total round = 32 sts.
Rounds 2-7: sc in each sc st around.
Beginning of next round (round 8) continues as row to start working flap:
Partial round 8/row 1: sc in each of next 15 sc sts, ch1, turn, *sc in 2nd sc from hook, sc in each of next 13 sts, ch1, turn.
Rows 2-4 each: sc in 2nd sc from hook, sc in each of next 13 sts, ch1, turn.
Row 5: sc in 2nd sc from hook, sc in next sc, hdc in each of next 2 sc sts, dc in each of next 2 sc sts, tr in next sc, dc in each of next 2 sc sts, hdc in each of next 2 sc sts, sc in each of next 2 sc sts. Break yarn.
Attach CB yarn in lower right corner of flap with front side of purse facing. Work edging starting with top edge of purse (not flap) using smaller size hook:
(sl, ch3, sl) all in same st, ch1, skip next st, rep from * around edge of purse and flap (if you want a hook loop at top of flap, work 9-10 ch sts or more in center flap instead of 3 ch sts); sl in 1st st of edging to join.
Fasten off. Secure circle and weave in ends.
sc: single crochet
hdc: half double crochet
dc: double crochet
tr: treble crochet
CA: main color (yellow in sample purse)
CB: edging color (white in sample purse)
